SORTIE 25
We carried 6 1000 lb. bombs on a mission to Prague, Czechoslovakia. The weather was very clear all the way up and back. We got very little flack and dropped our bombs on a tank factory. It was so easy that I smelled a rat. This was supposed to be a pretty rough target. It turned out that other wings got multi flack and also fighters put in an appearance. The bombers shot down six and the escort downed seven, including a few jet propelled.
This mission I flew in the ball with Lt. Sparks as pilot. He was a real good guy and showed a great deal of concern and consideration for his crew. He gave more oxygen checks than I have ever had before, which pleased me greatly. It gets awful lonely down in the ball and you could pass out without anyone knowing it.
Ten more to go.
