Flew ball turret with Lt. Tragwick. We went to Vienna and over part of the city but didn't drop bombs for some reason. Although our bombardier dropped his by some mistake. They landed in a field. The formation decided to hit Trieste after that. We had to drop out because of lack of fuel. We went back on our own. The navigator was lost so we took a guess at our heading. We had an undercast (sic) till we reached the coast of northern Italy. We came out of the clouds almost on top of Fiume. We got flack from it but it was inaccurate. We flew inland again almost running into Pola. Finally we took a chance at going out to sea and crossed the coast without getting any more flack. With the help of Big Frence we got back.
