Hi Ned,
I have my 5 Green Chromis (the ones I got from you a few weeks ago) in my 90 gallon tank. I put my two clowns in with them.
They were all getting along great and seemed really happy until this week. There is one Chromis that is larger than the others and hes always picking on the smaller ones.

The other strange thing is he follows one of my clowns around all day. he just kind of hovers around her and chases all the other fish away. I think it might be stressing my clowns too cause they were always together till the chromis started following that one everywhere.

I have my 20 gal. that the clowns used to be in but I don't really want to put anyone in it right now. I'd like to set it up as a nano reef eventually, but not yet.

One more question, I am getting the brown algae on the sand (you had said its because its a new tank and gave me the snails)....they dont seem to be helping much though. Anything else I could try?

Other than that, the tank is doing well. But what do you think I should do about the chromis? I'm afraid he will stress out my little chromis. I think my clowns were on there way to becoming a pair until he started following them around. So any suggestions? Thanks
Julie

You could try catching the mean green chromis and seperating him
or just bring him back.

the brown diatom algae is normal and harmless in a new tank...
you probably need more snails...
other algae eating critters include
sand sifting stars
sea cucumbers
algae blennys
bullet gobys
other gobys like watchman

how much light are you giving the tank?
...
what wattage
and
how long are the lights on?

how many corals or anemones do you have?

If you don't have a lot of corals
you don't need a lot of light

Its a fish only tank right now. I just have a 50/50 32 watt bulb. I have the lights on about 10 hours a day, more or less. Is that ok?

I may be over to get more snails and a goby later. Do you think I should probably bring the larger Chromis back? I'm guessing he will just get worse if I leave him in the tank

That's not very bright for a 90 gallon tank...
but if you want less algae you could turn
the light back to 5 hours on
instead of 10 hours

if you want you can bring back the big chromis
adding more chromis might work also
