Ned,
Hello i was in your store sat. having my water tested i bought some instant ocean to add to my african tank. My question was with adding Maliwa reef salt to my water changes weekly and adding 2 teaspoons of instant ocean with this be to much salt in the tank? I forgot to ask you this. I was also able to find some nitrate spong to add to the filters.

Thanks for you help and info.

Ed

2 teaspoons of salt (sodium chloride)
per 1 gallon of water
is the most salt you ever want to have for freshwater...
so less is fine...

yes ,
you can use the malawi / tanganyika salts (which are NOT sodium chloride)
along with the salt (sodium chloride / instant ocean)
...but
probably use a little less of each

the other reason to go a little easy on the salt (any kind)
is evaporation

when your water evaporates, the salts or other minerals stay in...
so it gets saltier
