Hi,
I might be buying a 150 gallon tank and about 8 fish that live in it. The only problem is how can I move the tank and keep the fishies happy and also start the tank up in a healthy environment for them. The drive will be about an hour too! Any suggestions? I am kind of new to all of this but am really excited about learning!

Hi,

I have had good results by moving everything without cleaning off any of the goo. Use your old filter without cleaning it for at least a month. Reuse as much of the original water as possible. And treat new water ahead of time for PH, Hardness and of course use a chlorine remover. I swear by NovAqua. Ned should be able to supply it for you.

those fish look pretty big
I would put 1 or 2 in a half full 5 gallon bucket with a lid

we have bag buddys at the store
which add oxygen
and also have a mild tranquilizing effect

check the buckets about every half hour to make sure the fish aren't
having trouble breathing,
if their breathing is labored, swish the water rapidly with your hand
...better yet we have inexpensive battery air pumps

If you don't feel comfortable moving the tank and the fish, I happen to move fish tanks, setup tanks, and maintence them for a living. My name is Andrew and I am also a worker at Uncle Ned's. If you want you can contact me. Through this forum or call Uncle Ned's and they will give you my information. I actually used to have the exact same tank! (Heavy!!) Just FYI. Good Luck either way!
