Hey Ned

I have a 24" 20 gallon tank with a 24 watt bulb that's on about 6 hours a day. There are no real plants in the tank so the light is only for seeing the fish.

About 2 weeks after I clean the tank a lot of brown algae appears on also everything.

Do you have any products that will kill off the brown algae and keep it away? Would a UV sterilizer kill off the brown algae?

you don't need a UV...
it wouldn't work on algae any way (only green water phytoplankton)
just buy a pleco or oto cat from Uncle Ned's

we have nice widemouth plecos now for $8 each
oto cats for $2.65 each
nice yellow bushnose plecos small $12 large $16
many others

Thanks for the reply, Ned! Can you tell me how big those plecos get, and are they suited for a 20 gal. tank?

I should be dropping down your way over this weekend.

Thanks again!

Get more light.
The brown algae vanishes once you get the green algae growing...and it looks much better.

Go with 2 watts per gallon and your brown algae will be gone. :)

Hey Ned

Do you still have those widemouth plecos in stock? I couldn't make it down a couple of weeks ago but I'll be down this Saturday unless we get a snow storm. Now there's no chance of that happening, is there???
