haha yea im guess im learning that the hard way...yea i dont plan on putting fish or inverts in it for a while...i just set up the tank...so it still needs to cycle.
do u have any other advice?

doesnt smell....but if u get up close to it its got a bit of an smell..kinda like the ocean..knda bad...same thing with the tank...my room doesnt smell...but if u get up reeeeaaaally close to the sump u can smell it.. and as far as the sand...i know that the sand will settle eventually...the thing i...

ooo! and i have another whole 5 gallon bucket full of live sand and saltwater that i havent washed, however has sat out all night...is this still alive? and should i add some of it to the tank? how much? and when?(while my water is still cloudy? or when the water settles?)

what would be the best option? and im new to the saltwater so if u could give me as much detail as possible on how to go about it and :oops: i did wash the live sand with fresh water...i was told this was ok to get rid of the detritus and that it will grow back...is this true thanks ned...i really a...

so i just got some live sand the other day from a guy who was breaking down his tank..i washed the sand as best as i could..however it seems that it wasnt enough...i put my liverock and baserock into the tank first, and then added the sand ..however it instantly clouded my tank...i turned on my filt...

well the other oscar sadly passed this morning..but i did what u said and added more airation and did a 50% water change and added salt and turned up the temp...the water is now crystal clear...the other fish are doing good now...thank u soooooo much, i really appreciate the help....do u still think...

so i picked up some frozen shrimp from the super market and i cut it up for him and i dropped some in after i turned off the lights..he ate it right up and seemes to really enjoy it...then the other day i tried and "experiment" and tossed in a small chunk of chicken and he ate it right up....

thanks a lot....o and i keep him with a couple of oscars who just love to eat anything that goes into the tank, but i will def try the frozen...thanks again

i have a shovelnose catfish that is currently about 8 inches long and is healthy...he is eating goldfish as of now, however i want to ween him off of the live and get him on something healthier since i know feeding live can cause all sorts of fish problems...so the question i had was how can i ween ...
