So if I am reading this right, I need 165 teaspoons of salt for 75 gallons? Temp is currently at 78, should I raise the temperature to 80 degrees? That seems like a whole lot of salt. In the past the most I have ever used is 6 teaspoons per 10 gallons cause I think that is what doc wellfish was back...

Knock on wood, but i have yet to have a case of bloat in my Tropheus tank. I do weekly water changes and use a water buffer. I feed my fish NLS pellet and Spirulina/Graze flake mix from Jehmco. Anyway, the guys on a tropheus forum I read have reported very good results after soaking their food in me...

Hi Ned, Have had a healthy an happy 75 gal Tropheus tank since April after I purchased my Moliro's from your shop. They have been breeding like crazy, are beautiful, and I couldn't be happier with them. In the last week however, I noticed a condition on about 4 fish. One in particular is developing ...

Get more light.
The brown algae vanishes once you get the green algae growing...and it looks much better.

Go with 2 watts per gallon and your brown algae will be gone. :)

Depending on how big the driftwood is of course.

If you can get it in really warm water and then let it soak in the really warm water (near boiling) and then put it in cold water, it might sink.

At least, that trick works with lava rocks. (the ones that float)

Oh man.
I need another tank. I would love to take those fish off your hands if I had the money and space right now.

You have my old tank (i had basically a same set up with Fronts and calvus), I hated breaking down that tank. :(

How much light do you have on your 75? You want at a min 1.5 watt per gallon to 2 watts per gallon to grow plants. To grow really thick algae, I think you need the same. I will say this, I am TRYING to grow algae. I am running 116 watts on my 75 gallon, and I am after a week beginning to see algae. ...

I think this weekend caught a few of us off guard. I had to put in the AC this weekend of things could have turned bad. What kind of filter do you have on the tank? I believe eheim has an attachment that can help add more oxygen into the water as well. It is like $5-15 or something. Ned, I wonder if...

For mouthbrooders, which I believe johanni are: If they are breeding, the male and female usually make a "T" shape with their bodies. They will alternate positions as they circle around each other. Each one following the other around their rear fins. The male will usually shake his body du...

My tropheus have black spots on their sides. It doesn't seem to be a fatal condition or anything, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to the cause. I was reading through various forums that it might be as a result of too much spirulina in their diet, but that seems odd to me because I o...

I have heard the eheim auto feeder is good too. It is expensive, but so is everything eheim. I have had nothing but good luck with my eheim stuff though. Make sure you test the autofeeder a few days before you go to make sure it is working as you want it to do so. Fyi, there are people who use the e...
