| Post subject: | new catfish names July 2024 |
| new catfish (corydoryne) names July 2024 from a recent paper (I will find the title and authors soon in an edit) I'll start with the most well known species first (ending with , or skipping, species names I've never heard of) starting with the new genus name (some of which I've never heard in 55 years of fish keeping) > Hopliosoma cf. loxozonum loxozonum concolor axelrodi metae aff. sterbai gossei caudimaculatum weitzmani similis panda cf. polystictum polystictum julii trilineatum granti oiapoquensis atropersonatum adolfoi aff. adolfoi duplicareum aff. burgessi burgessi cf. brevirostris brevirostris leucomelas habrosum loretoensis reynoldsi tukano nattereri ehrhardti paleatum cochui ... I skipped about 12 I've never heard of... (the names ending in '-um' instead of '-us' is because of the grammar in the either greek or latin of the genus name... same familiar species) still in (YEAH!) > Corydoras treitlii cervinus narcissus serratus geoffroy simulatus pastzensis semiaquilus ... I skipped about 7 I've never heard of... > Aspidoras about 8 on the list none of which I've ever heard of ... will need further investigation by me ... I know of pauciradiatus (moved to 'Gastrodermus'... see below) and maybe 3 others, never heard of the ones listed... possible they changed species names also (but that's unusual) the giant cool water ones > Scleromystax barbatus macropterus prionotus lacerdai and 1 other with a number (these names haven't changed) > Gastrodermus elegans nijsseni napoensis gracilis pauciradiatus pygmaeus hastatus ... and 2 with numbers > Osteogaster aeneus rabauti zygatus WOW everything is Brochis now ! > Brochis ambiacus seussi pulcher haraldschultzi agassizii spectabilis virginiae leopardus delphax amandajanea imatator robinae reticulatus britskii aff. splendens splendens ... + 5 I've never heard of.. + 7 that have only numbers ... I have a feeling they missed 1 or 2 hundred but better than I ever did |
