Mrs. Robertson's Pie crust Mix:
4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups shortening (may use half butter if preferred)
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
Mix with pastry blender until particles are the size of peas. Store
in the refrigerator
until needed.
For one pie (2 crust) use a generous two cups; add 4 or 5 tbsp, iced
water; mix
gently with fork.
This is best very cold; I make it well ahead if possible. It will
keep, covered tightly, in the refrigerator
for about 2 or 3 months.
(Mrs. Robertson was the mother of one of our friends. A really nice
person, and a
fine cook!)
