Its a FUN idea - and probably a GOOD idea for beginners.

But I would caution that it may be over cautious... i.e. conservative. I plugged in one of my long time successful tanks, with happy breeding fish in it and it was quite unhappy with me. Still, better than the "some number of inches per gallon" nonsense that we see repeated everywhere.
