Post subject:  Speckle Tailed Loaches

Hi Ned

Do you know if these are Y. cuadipunctata or Y. splendida?

Thanks!

Mike

And by these i meant what you have listed as "Speckle-tailed" loach.

www.loaches.com species index should give a good comparison.

my fish are younger than your fish in that photo

mine have the same dark caudal area
their bodys are a lighter grey
the tail of mine are yellow not orange
the dorsal is also yellow
both the dorsal and tail fins have the the small black spots

had them about a week
they are very peaceful so far
...they are in with some Lamprologus similis shelldwellers

Post subject:  Caudipunctata - yes

Hey Mike,
I just had a look at them - pretty sure they are caudipunctata:

Bullet silver, ill defined spot/blotch on caudal peduncle, clear to yellow/orange fins with peppering of speckles... unless there is a closer fish to the images of caudipunctata you linked to than the splendida than this is a batch of caudi's.

Hope this helps,
-Sam

Post subject:  saddle

That "indistinct saddle" behind the dorsal fin is visible on most of them too... I guess that clinches the ID
