| i saw a really nice tank setup with pvc pipe fittings. id like to set up one of my tanks with this. my concern is: is their anything i need to be concerned with using these pieces? |

| have had pvc in my 25 and 90 for over 5 years(use various sizes as hiding spots...) and havent seemed to have any problems......... |

| yes PVC pipe is totally inert (just plastic) you can pretty much put any of these in your tank: plastic cured epoxy stone aquarium driftwood glass (just watch out for cutting edges) things to watch out for are: metals (don't use any) some species of wood (I had problems with local oak, maybe it was too green and sappy?) poisoned products (got some cheap chinese decorations once with poison paint on it, one time a customer used slate from an old roof that had poison adhesive on it) |

| I only use fittings and pipe that bears the NSF mark (national sanitation foundation) meaning it was tested to be safe for drinking water. For more info: http://www.nsf.org/consumer/newsroom/fa ... orebuy.asp I still stay away from CPVC (chlorinated) that is used for high temperature service like hot water pipes. The chlorination is a reaction at the molecular level during manufacturing, and probably does not leach out. |

| the white or dark grey PVC is safe in fish tanks (CPVC is the yellowish, usually small dimension pipes and fittings, it is totally safe in a fish tank also) virtually all plastics are safe |
