Hello everyone,

I hope by now you have heard that the Tropical Fish Society of Rhode Island,
my home club, is having our show and auction on August 28th, 29th, & 30th
this year. I have attached our flyers, in case you haven't. This year I
would like to have SNEKA sponsor a class or Award at the show. We can
sponsor the killifish class for $30 or even better, sponsor the Walter
Indell Memorial Killifish Award for best killifish in the show for $50. Our
treasury is in good shape and I think that this is the kind of thing we
should do as a club. I would appreciate if you could let me know your
opinion by Tuesday, so I can give a definite answer at our next meeting this
Wednesday.

For those of you who haven't entered our show before we have 3 classes that
are appropriate for Killifish: Single Male Killifish, Native Fish and Open
Pairs. We encourage entrants from any club or even from unaffiliated fish
keepers. We are fortunate to have expert judges and the killifish class is
usually very competitive. We don't have cash prizes, but our award plaques
for Best of Show, Reserve of Show, Best Cichlid, Best Goldfish and the
Walter Indell Award have all featured custom paintings of the winning fish
by Ken McKeighan for the past few years. I am hoping that he will also
paint our awards this year. Ken often paints the awards for the AKA as well
as other killie clubs across the country. Our show also qualifies for
points towards the NEC's Innes Award and the chance to win $500. In the
past two years a killifish has won 2nd place and 3rd place!

Bill Logue and I still have to discuss having our September meeting on the
Cape with a chance to go collecting, so keep an eye out for that message.
At the last meeting we decided to postpone chosing a logo until September.
Only Dave Hardenbrook and myself were ready with ideas

Finally, I would like to get a sense of how many of you are planning on
attending the Northeast Weekend in Albany this year. It is October 16-18.
They have already conformed Tony Pinto and John Clairmont as speakers. They
are expecting Gary Greenwood and Rick Ivek to be attending, and for Gary to
be bringing fish for the Box Sale and Auction!

I hope to hear from you soon,

Rich
