One of the guys from the Tropical Fish Society of Rhode Island raises lots of live foods (including microworms) and sells his extras as starter cultures.
If you check the Boston Aquarium Society forum there should be a post with details there.

Microworms are easy to raise, and a little smaller than baby brine, but the baby brine are more nutritious if fed right away. So if your fry are big enough, I'd use the baby brine shrimp.

And microworms are a real PITA in a retail environment - not "shelf stable" enough to keep around, and not enough demand for them.
(which is why I'm hoping Ned won't mind me posting about the worms  ) So microworms are usually bought via mailorder or thru the fishclubs.

Hey Ned - since I've been too lazy to raise any baby brine lately (or working too much I guess) and I've got a few batches of cichlid fry, I could probably use some baby brine - how much $ for a portion ?
(I've overdue for another visit to the store anyway...)

oh
I don't know
$2 - $5 bucks
depending on how many you want

feeding off this hatch tonight

HOPE to start another batch tonight
should be ready tomorrow night

we are trying to have it about every 2 days or so
but call ahead

we have plenty of eggs
if you want to make your own

if I recall correctly
microworms are temperature sensitive...
and don't do well at the 80 degrees I set our thermostat at
(or is that white worms ?)

Ned, White worms wouldn't last 2 hours at the Fish Factory

I've kept them in the fridge, but they reproduce very slowly

60-65 degrees is good......above 70 not good
