Hi Ned, Probably the wrong forum, but I'm trying to find out the name of a tetra I bought at your store. It's black, with a gold line across the dorsal edge. The male when it got bigger had a "third" tail, a sword extension between the caudal fin from the center. They were about $16. I thought they were a "emporer" tetra, but the google pictures aren't matching, these are more black. Do you recall what this is?

They actually bred in my planted community tank, so I'm trying to find out.

They were 'Black' Emperor Tetras. They are a variant of the much lighter common emperor Nematobrycon palmeri. We imported them from a breeder in the Czech republic, but as far as I know they are a naturally occurring variant.

Its a rare fish in the states, if you have luck spawning and raising them, we would be interested in a few.

That's it, thanks. I've only seen two young. It's a community tank, with some Angels, so the chances of them making it is slim, but I'll let you know if I pan out with a few. I'm stoked.
