I wanted to try a new species of african cichlids. I am going to play around with the many different types of Metriaclima esterethae.

I want to get a frost blue male.
2 BB females. I think you have these....right?
1 Normal red strain female.
Maybe 1 albino? or another normal female.

I would rather get these at 2.5-3.5 inches.

I am just going to play around with how the fry work out.
As far as i know...... the males will be blue every time that the blue male breeds with a red strain female, and in most cases with the bb females. As far as I know, this is the only situation with mbuna that you can tell the males from females at birth.

Apparently in the wild.... the red strained male zebra are very rare. It is just in the captive breeding that you see mostly red males.

BB's are a different species (probably several different species)
I do not suggest crossing them...
I don't have any anyway

1 Normal red strain female.
I have at least 1 nice Large Red Estherae female
can go with the frost blues or the red OB's no problem

Maybe 1 albino? or another normal female.
I have 1 albino in stock but it is a BB small-medium, probably male

basically:
Pearl Whites and Cobalts are Callinois
Red, Red OB (Orange blotch) and Frost Blue are Estherae
BB's (Black Bars) are probably true Metriaclima Zebra (but there are MANY locations and probably species/sub-species)
Red Top Cobalts are Greshakei
Yellow Chins are Fainzilberi
ALL OF THEM can be OB and or Albino
in some locations you get mostly striped males and mostly OB females
the rarest wild male is an OB

True.

True.

I meant OB sorry. Not BB. I was thinking it meant black blotched.

I remember seeing the OB's in there. They were very nice.

How big is the group? Definitely females?

How big are the blue males?

thanks, ben

frost blue male Estherae are kind of a dark sooty blue-purple
cobalt callinois are kind of a light to med blue, almost greenish

Look like that dont they?

I know when they are younger they start off as a dark blue-purple-brown. They get the nicer blue with age? Where are they at now?

Are the red females a nice deep orange or lighter?
