Hi,

The BAS will be having their annual auction on Sunday, November 2nd, in Dedham MA.

What's an Annual Auction ? Its a whole day of fish fish fish !
Plenty of fish, plants, and goodies to bid on.
Or, if you have fish to sell, plenty of people to bid on your fish !
And of course, lots of fish-head folks to talk to.

Admission is FREE
Lots can be checked in from 10am-noon, the auction starts at noon.
Sellers will get a 60/40 split.
Sellers are limited to 15 lots, and no more than 3 lots of any one species per seller (ie you can't bring 20 bags of convicts).
Lots over the limits will be considered donations to the BAS.

No used lightbulbs or gravel, please.

Are there ever adult mbuna auctioned off at these meetings? Thats what i really want. Ive always wanted to go see some of the meetings. Are they really good?

Yep...there tend to be LOTS of mbuna at the auctions. Definitely come check it out. It's a couple of bucks for a bidder card, with that money going to support the club.

My store is aprox 12 miles West (real west) of Dedham

Can i become a member at the show??? It seems like a worth while cause to me. Do they have discounts for people under 18??(only 16) Although 15 bucks isnt bad.

At the annual auction - probably not - it's usually too crazy, and the membership chairman is usually pretty busy helping with the auction.

Alright i got the day off from work and i will definitely be there. Its a bit of a hike for me. I plan to buy some fish. What should i bring?? A bucket with water? Cooler......

Also, ned will you be open? I want to get a few female cobue from you, but its so far away that i kinda have to do it all in one day. Any ideas on keeping them alive? battery operated air pump? Do you sell those?

you shouldn't need a bucket with water, but a cooler or two can be very helpful !

(I usually bring at least one).
Bring cash or a checkbook (or hit the ATM across the street)

If you're going to hit Ned's after the auction, I would plan a half hour for the drive (just in case you hit traffic) and I don't think I've ever been able to check out the store in less than half an hour, I think I usually spend more like an hour -- so I would try to leave the auction by about 4:30, 5pm at the latest.

if the fish are bagged properly
frankly even 4 days is survivable
...so 6 hours should not be that much of a problem

(my record is 8 days)

we always use bag buddys (oxygen pills) in the bags at my store
but
if there are only very few or small fish in the bag
they are certainly safe for many hours even with just air in the bag

when bagging fish
you only get into trouble when
you have massive over crowding in the bag
(same as in a tank)

also
the standard fish bags
are somewhat porous to air
so... some co2 is getting out
and.. some o2 is getting in

Could i have an address for the building this is going to be at? Luckily i have a GPS so i can just punch it in to give me directions.

Im looking forward to seeing an auction.
