I'm in the process of stocking a 38g malawi tank. My first inhabitants are 5 yellow labs (2m, 3f).

I'm anticipating total stock numbers to be around 12 or so.

I'd really like for the rest of this tank to be primarily solid or striped blue cichlids with maybe a couple of black/white striped colorations if I can fit a third species. Perhaps the black and white can be in the form of an algae eating synodontis catfish.

What would be a good choice for blue malawis?

These are on my short list. How are they in terms of temperament with the yellow labs?

Metriaclima callainos
Pseudotropheus socolofi
Cynotilapia afra

I'm open to other suggestions... these are ones that I've researched so far.

Ned, do you have any of these available?

Metriaclima callainos none in stock right now
Pseudotropheus socolofi 1 or 2 med-Lrg only in stock
Cynotilapia afra a couple types in stock

all would do fine with yellow Labidos

I see a lot of Malawi fish posts.........
Real cool Malawi shell dweller.Only gets about 2.5"-3" long and is fairly peaceful. The fish has some blue coloration, striping on the body and a nice pattern on caudal fin.Probably would go good w/Yellow Labs. etc.
Ned,
Have you seen them around(on list) lately?

Tom
