one of the male orange australe killis i bought from you a week or two ago is acting funny in a bad way. he's been hanging around the top of the tank with his fins all clamped to him. everything i've looked up about this says its that he's unhappy or something, but not sick. i doubt he's sick, as nothing else in the tank is behaving abnormally. if he is just feeling off, is there anything i could do to help him out? i feel bad for him, because i dont have any idea whats wrong. there's hidey holes, plants, etc. should i just add more?

hmmm
usually clamped fins are a sign of parasites like ick

depending on the other species in the tank
I would treat for ick

there are many treatments that work

but here are a few things to bear in mind

quick cure (malacite green & formalin) can burn some species of catfish
aquarisol (copper sulphate) will kill shrimps and snails
salt (sodium chloride) will kill plants

If you want
bring the fish down and I'll take a look at him

i did a water change and added salt, and he seems much better. he's at least moving and eating.

I kinda think guaranteeing a fish for 3 weeks is a lot to ask.
