Hi, I am having trouble with my saltwater tank and am wondering if you can help! I have a 55 gallon tank with a canister filter and compact floures lights and I am having a huge issue with hreen hair algea all of a sudden. It is everywhere!
YOU MAY HAVE TOO MUCH LIGHT FOR THE CONDITIONS, IF YOU HAVE 4 WATTS PER GALLON ON FOR 12 HOURS A DAY WITH NO CORALS, YOU GET TONS OF ALGAE.
ALSO, IF YOU HAVE A POUND OF LIVE ROCK FOR EACH GALLON OF AQUARIUM WATER, YOU SHOULD TAKE ALL THE MEDIA OUT OF YOUR FILTER.
Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? I have a dozen or so turbo snails and a few emerald crabs and blue legs, is there anything else that might eat it?
OTHER GREAT ALGAE EATERS INCLUDE
FOX FACE TANGS,
BLUE EYE, YELLOW EYE OR ANY BRISTLE TOOTH OR KOLE TANGS (YELLOW TANGS EAT SEAWEED, KELP, NOT ALGAE)
URCHINS (BE CAREFUL WHICH URHIN IF YOU ARE DOING CORALS)
SEA HARES,
CAT'S EYE SNAILS,
ALGAE BLENNYS,
...WE USUALLY HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE IN STOCK.
My phosp levels are a bit high, and I have read that can increase growth as well but I can't get the level down. I am doing water changes every few days but it doesn't seem to help the PO level.
IF THE PHOSPHATE IS THE SOURCE WATER WATER CHANGES WON'T HELP,
WE ALSO SELL R.O. WATER AND REVERSE OSMOSIS UNTS
SO YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN ZERO PHOSPHATE WATER.
Any ideas?

thanks!

HOPE THAT HELPS.
