Ned quick question, you say in your Library on Feeding African Cichlids Green Flake food only. Does this apply to Shellies also, aren't they a mid to lower feeder ( sinking food? ) Or will they adapt to the topwater? Thanks

If your doing Lamprologus
You want to feed some high protein (shrimp or other) foods
as well as the green flake

Hi Ned wondering if you sell bulk large cichlid pellets? What do you think of feeding omnivorace cichlids Koi, goldfish pellets every 3rd feeding? Also do you have anything resonable priced to check salinity?

Thanks Scott

Hi Ned wondering if you sell bulk large cichlid pellets?
I WILL TRY TO PUT UP A LIST SOON...
BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LOT OF LARGE FISH
IT'S NOT WORTH IT
(DON'T BUY MORE FOOD THAN YOU CAN USE INSIDE 12 WEEKS)
IN THE STORE I HAVE SO FEW EX LARGE CICHLIDS I JUST FEED THEM KOI PELLETS

What do you think of feeding omnivorace cichlids Koi, goldfish pellets every 3rd feeding?
YES, IT'S PRACTICALLY THE SAME STUFF

Also do you have anything resonable priced to check salinity?
WELL
WE HAVE REGULAR MARINE HYDROMETERS FOR $14.
BUT THEY ARE NOT SENSITIVE ENOUGH TO READ THE RELATIVELY SUPER LOW SALINITYS YOU WANT FOR CICHLID TANKS...
THE MOST SALT I EVER USE IN ANY FRESH WATER
IS 2 TEASPOONS OF SALT PER GALLON OF WATER...
SO I JUST MAKE A MENTAL OR WRITTEN NOTE OF HOW MUCH SALT IS IN THE WATER...
THERE IS ALSO A DROP DYE CHEMICAL TEST FOR SALINITY
BUT I DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK RIGHT NOW
...WHEN IN DOUBT JUST CHANGE ALL THE WATER AND RE-DOSE THE SALT
...IF THE FISH ARE SICK
I USE 2 TEASPOONS OF SALT PER GALLON OF WATER...
IF THEY ARE NOT SICK I USE 1 TEASPOON PER GALLON OF WATER IN A CICHLID TANK...
IF THERE ARE LIVE PLANTS IN THE TANK I USE ZERO SALT
