Post subject: | Tank Drilling |
I have a 55 gal. tank that I would like to get drilled for an overflow. I have a Tidepool that I'd like to use as a sump. The Tidepool overflow is currently in service on my 125 - not entirely happy with it; so I want to drill the 55. Do you know where I could get this done? How much would this sort of thing cost? Thanx! -- front-fan |

Frankly I didn't like the quality of Marineland Tidepool (looks like the vinyl would crack in a few years) I suggest Oceanic glass wet/dry Sumps ($260 for the small one) or ProClear acrylic wet/dry sumps (around $260 also) or even just a regular All Glass Aquarium glass tank (around $50) as far as drilling an exsisting tank there was a glass shop (in Needham I think) but he can't guarantee it won't break of course... ... I suggest ordering a new tank factory drilled ($125 + hole drill cost + bulkhead fitting) or just get the stock overflow tank ($145 plus $65 for overflow kit) then you'd need a pump of course..the standard overflow drain hole can accept about 750 gallons per hour so we normally use a Danner 950 pump with a ball valve aprox $150 for both) my suggestions would cost more money but you would have practically zero risk of problems |
