Hi, I have a 55 gal tank-not too many fish-but the ph seems to keep running
low. (It is below 6.2-which is where my ph kit starts) I did a 1/3 water
change and that brought it up to around 6.2-6.4, but this seems to be
occuring more often. (By the way, the hose kit that we bought to hook up
and drain and fill the tank was AWESOME!) Any ideas on what may be causing
the ph to run low? This is a realatively new problem-the tank is almost 3
years old. Thanks
Jodi

Let's see...
your source water is probably low in natural calcium
so you should probably add some calcium in one of the forms below*

after we test both your tank & tapwater we might suggest one of several remedys
*use "pH UP" or a small amount of Baking SODA along with "Proper pH 7.0"
*add dolomite or crushed coral gravel to the bottom of the tank or into the filter
*add coral base rock as a decoration inside the tank

there are many products to raise and stabilize pH

bring some of your tank water in 1 bag
and some of your tap water in a second bag and we'll run a wide range pH test on both

make a note of the size of the tank and the species of fish

if your fish are okay it is possible that it's just your test chemical is out of date
