I just had it in two of my cichlids. A five day cycle of Mardel Maracyn-Two did the trick. Worth a try. Good luck!

I strongly suggest you give the affected fish it's own tank

probably I suggest Maracyn (Erythromycin)
as opposed to Maracyn2....

but whatever works

Pop Eye has numerous causes

the most common is accident
or fighting
(same as people)

with calm, clean conditions
(isolation tank)
the problem may heal itself

My 2 cents.............
I assume TC may be tetracycline-another antibiotic. All fish medications usually have a list of what they contain. Many have several different ingrediants to cover a range of infections/parasites.I don't use that brand but if I remember correctly you may have to open up the package to find the list of ingrediants.Inside you will also find a disease symptom chart that tells you which Maracyn product to use depending on your fishes symptoms. It will recomend one of their anti-biotics.
If Ned recomends erythromycin I'd try that.

Tom

the multi-post problem is something Ruthe is working on
we need a new version of the PhP program or something...
not a big deal...if after you post,
and you get a weird 'de bug mode' message,
ignore it...your post has probably gone thru

as far as the anti-biotics go
(I am not a doctor)
I use Erythromycin for eye damage and minor external scrapes,
I use Tetracycline or Oxylinic Acid for serious external infections,I use Furan 2 if there are Fugusy looking white growths in the wounds,
Maracyn 2 supposedly is for internal infections but I've never seen it cure anything... possibly because by the time you have an internal infection (vital organs) the victim is a goner anyway

any of the above are likely to work on any number of assorted species of bad bacteria

Erythromycin is always my first choice
if the fish's condition is not desperate
because
it does not seem to affect the filter bacteria too badly
and
it does not make a mess in the tank (Tetracycline turns brown & foamy, Furan 2 turns the water blue)

Don't give up too early on sick fish
cichlids in particular
I've seen them come back from amazing injurys
