I have two separate issues/questions:

1) I have a pair of pearl (leeri) gouramis, and the male is very aggressive towards the female. Recently he's taken a couple scales off of her, and I'm worried she's going to get stressed out and sick. I was thinking of getting another female to try and spread out the aggression. Is this a good idea? Is there another way to try and keep the peace? The tank is heavily planted with lots of hiding spots, but she still gets chased when she comes out.

2) I have a 5 gallon tank that I am going to be stocking soon. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions. I would like to heavily plant it and get as many small fish as is healthy into it. It's one of those eclipse systems with the filter and light built in. I was thinking a couple sparkling gouramis might be neat, as well as a small school of small rasboras and a pair or trio of cherry shrimp. Any other suggestions?

get a second 5 gallon tank
and put either the male or female gourami in it
(at least for a while)
the extra female or 2 female gouramis might work also

just bear in mind only very small fish will not eat
cherry shrimp

sparkling gouramis sound appropriate
