Sea Monkeys are Brine Shrimp.
The Scientific name is Artemia.
There are at least 4 species or sub-species.
The one we get most often comes from the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
Another one comes from the marshy areas around San Francisco, California (the California kind doesn't get as big as the Utah kind.)
There's another from a salt lake in Canada,
and I think a 4th one lives in a salt lake in China.
All of them are very tiny...full grown adults are maybe one third of one inch long.
Small shrimp-like animals live in all the waters of the world.
Fish eat millions of tons of these.
They make great fish food for pet fish.
We sell them freeze-dried in cubes in a jar for $5.71.
We also have them frozen for $5 for 3.5 ounce cubes
or $4 for a 4 ounce frozen flat pack.
We sometimes have live adult brine for $1.90 per teaspoon (about 75 of 'em in a damp teaspoon).
We also sell the eggs which you can hatch yourself in saltwater.
