I have a firemouth cichlid that, over the weekend, developed raised white "spots" and "lines" in several places on his body. Look like whiteheads and raised stretch marks. He also appears in one spot to be shedding scales. He is acting healthy, swimming and eating normally. I removed him anyway until I hear from someone here.

What could it be? How do I treat it?

not sure what you have there

still eating is a great sign

(attacked by another cichlid is the most common problem)

seperation is a good idea

put in 2 TEAspoons of salt per 1 gallon of water
also use clout or other medicine according to label directions at same time
tank carbon out of filter (use foam only)

raise temp to 81 degrees F.
