I recently rescued a male Betta from a LFS and he is happily living in my 55 gallon tank with mostly different types of tetras and some corys. My question is, can I put some females in the tank to keep him company, or will this just cause havoc in the tank. I was told by one person I shouldn't, and by someone else that I should get 3 or 4 females.

Any help would be much appreciated!! :D

Thanks,
Lisa

I doubt you will have a problem
with male & female Bettas together in a 55...
particularly if you have a good number of real or plastic plants...
we are out of female bettas as I write this but should have some
this Wednesday night.

Thanks. I've gotten such mixed advice. Would you recommend 3 females to one male? Do you ship to Maine?

Thanks again,
Lisa

sure we can ship to Maine

just call me Monday, or Tuesday between noon & 3 pm,
you'll get fish next day for $12 - $20 UPS ground.

I do need about a $50 minimum order to ship

I don't think it matters how many female Bettas you have...
more is probably better

Don't need any more plants. So I can put cichlids in the tank? My LFS said they were nasty fish. I take what they say with a grain of salt. I'll have to look up pics of the ones you listed....

I've been using Amquel plus and and Nova Aqua for my water.

we have lots of peaceful cichlids
(lots of nasty ones too)

we're about 35 minutes west-southwest of Boston
50 minutes south of Salem NH
an hour and 15 minutes southwest from Portsmouth NH

quickest way from Maine is through Boston,
just be careful time of day you travel
(4 - 6 pm is murder)

www.mapquest.com

you might want to drive down and look around
we are open 7 days
