There was some excitement at the Jaffe pond this past week. My
mother called me exclaiming that a Beaver had moved into the pond!
Actually, it turned out to be a Muskrat, but still pretty cool. It
moved into my waterfall and made a nest out of all my rushes and
sedges. It came out in the morning and chowed down on the lawn and
eventually on all the water plants (including the Lilies!!!).
Unfortunately, because of the damage to my moms garden and because of
the amount of waste it was releasing into the pond we decided it had
to go. I was able to catch it in a net and we released it into a
local bog. Ever heard of people having muskrat problems before?
All the Koi look great this spring but the Red-horse minnows are
all gone... probably because of the huge crayfish i pulled out of the
pond the other day.
