How do I get the stuck on scum film off my hood glass? I tried to get it off by scrub brush , didnt work. Didnt want to use chemicals.

probably you need to get a new glass top,
after several years the calcium sort of soaks into the glass,
it is often not cleanable

You could try white vinegar first, and if this doesn't work, a muriatic acid solution. The latter is not a chemical to be toyed with, but its easy to find at home depot or the like. If you burn your hand off... you didn't hear it from me!

I will try the white vinegar frist .I was wondering if I could replace the glass rather than buy a new hood or is it cheaper to buy a new hood . Its a 44 gal. tall, diamond shape tank with a perfecto double light hood.
