Hi =)

I'm just gathering opinions on whether or not stocking my tank should be complete. I'm not in the market for anything in particular just wanted opinions on how much/what more in the future we can add --- or maybe should subtract! LOL. Thanks.

Equipment:

*Freshwater
*72g bow w/Megaflow
*wet/dry trickle box underneath
*Magnum 350 on the side (using micron filter once in awhile)
*artifical plants/real driftwood for decor
*#2 FilPro for gravel
* UV (on the side--just for the fun of it...gotta have the toys! =))

Livestock:

(3) Pearl Gouramis (juvi)
(5) Honey Gouramis (was sold as Honey, they are bright orange on full body some have dark brown fins and larger than what I have read about "Honey's")
(7) Long Finned Danios
(4) White Cloud's
(1) Gold Nugget Pleco (was in 6g Eclipse tank for over 1 year)
(3) Amano Shrimp
(4) Dojo Loaches
(3) Siemese Algae eaters (Yes, they are true =))

Tank has been up and cycled for about 4 weeks now (it has algae!! uggg) Water parameters have been great! 0 Ammonia 0 nitrItes 10 nitrAtes pH 6.8 Kh/Gh within tolerances temp 74

Thanks again!

btw, thanks again for the suggestions for stock in the other thread awhile ago.

to add to the top (after reading it again)

Equipment:

* 65Wx4 12,000K compact light fixture
* 6 stage R/O DI water filter

Ment to comment on cycling too....after treating the tap water (didn't have water filter yet) and letting the tank settle for about a week we added the Danios and White Clouds. A few days later we added the Gourami's and BioSpira. We were pleasantly surprised about 1 1/2 weeks later that algae had started to appear and the water tests were coming back fine.

Thanks Again!

Hey Ned, how are those Cockatoo cichlids doing? We were toying with the idea of getting a mated pair (if we can find one) to the 6g Eclipse since it has nothing in it and we are keeping it cycled just waiting.

Holy Light Bill Batman!
Why do you have 3.5 watts per gallon on a tank with fake plants?
It's enough for a reef!

Hope you like Plecos.

You have plenty of room and plenty of filtration for more fish.

I would get 1 of the 4 following things if it were my tank:
Snails
Plecos
live Plants
a regular light

Cacs are doing fine...we have young pairs for $35 per pair,
or extra Xlrg males for $9 each

$5 per pair

Gawd I need to get in there more often !
(time to shuffle fish/tanks around again !)

Ned - are these the locally bred ones ?

wow thats the best price I've seen on them anywhere, ever !

Prez - another good choice for that little tank would be Ned's peacock gudgeons - very cool, very colorful. IMO even easier to keep than the apistos (I can breed the gudgeons, but have no luck with apistos)

typo (I fixed it above already)
$35 per pair for cacs, they are Czeck raised
3 pair or more ... 25% off

the extra males are $9 each and are locally raised

Yeah, I usually over do stuff when I get into it....it happens with every hobby I start. We run just 2 of the lights mostly and leave the other 2 bulbs off so, it's really 65Wx2 that's on during the day. I couldn't pass up the deal on the fixture that is why I have it.

You suggested snails but, won't the loaches eat/kill the snails?

I would love to start using live plants but everytime I read up on how to care for them I get discouraged. It seems like way too much work. Maybe most of it is BS? I also have a small CO2 reactor --Hagen reactor-- and some Flourish, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to take a chance with live plants.

Anyways, thank you for the suggestions!

How about some Iriatherina werneri (Feather/Thread Fin) Rainbows for the 72g?

I love the idea of peacock gudgeons for the 6g,,,,,I think we're gonna do that! Thank You!

Gee... I was doing some cleaning around the bottom tonight and guess what I found....

[ img ]

A Blue Crawfish! We have NO idea how he got in the tank but we suspect that there must have been eggs or a baby in some java moss I got from our LFS quite awhile ago. She (we believe after research) is about 1" long and is blue already. We set up the 5g again and placed her in there. Sorry for the bad picture, I'll get something better later.

I'm sure later, we will have to donate her to a fish store.....It's just weird.
