I recently bought a 36" 96W Coralife light for my new tank. (Not from you, Ned- I just found your site yesterday linked from the BAS page). I imagined that if the tank was 36" wide, getting a 36" light was a good idea. Unfortunately, it is exactly the wrong size. The little lip at the edge of the light which connects it to the top of the tank overlaps the raised area at the edge of the tank, so I can't put the light inside the lip of the lid or outside the lip of the lid. I'm stuck with the right side of the light fixture being slightly off the side of the tank, and the fixture can slide.

Is there a trick to this? Is there some kind of tool or attachment which can make my 36" light fit on a 36" tank?

You're doing something wrong, but I don't know what...
lights have 4 instructions...
1) put light on top of tank
...1a) plug into electric outlet
2) turn switch on
3) watch fish swim
4) turn off light

we also sell timers...if you set up a timer you can skip
steps 2 and 4

Corallife also make legs if you want to elevate the light a little above the tank

The legs are the answer. They attach to the small "track" along the front and rear of the unit. (If im thinking of the right light) They raise the light about 2"... my memory is rusty.

Oh, that must be my problem. I don't have the legs. I'm trying to imagine what my tank will look like with the light suspended 2 inches above the lid. It sounds like some giant tinkertoy contraption. Still, it's worth a try. I don't like the light being loose on the top the way it is now.

I guess it is reasonable to order these. If you don't mind ordering them, Ned, I've been planning to visit your store when my new tank is done cycling. I live in Upton, which is not all that far from your store. About how long will it take, and do you need me to pay in advance or something?

Thanks for the advice, Ned and Abigail.

-Roger

Clear, I guess.

I have the week after Christmas off from work. I hope my tank will be about done cycling by then, and I'd like to shop around while I'm there. Do you have special holiday hours I should know about?

Are these clips in yet? I'd like to stop by to pick them up if they are.
