In my spiny eel tank, I tested the water and it is not what Tanganyikan water is supposed to be. The pH is too low, basically. I only use cichlid buffer, and don't add any other salt or pH changing additives. The eel is fine right now, but I don't want it to drop dead mysteriously, like my male killifish. Is there a detailed plan i should follow to make the water perfect? Maybe I should bring my tap water in and see what I should really add to it.

your pH sould be 7.4 - 8.6
temperature 78 - 80 degrees F.
ammonia should be 0
nitrite should be 0
nitrate should be between 0 and 100 parts per million
if you're pH is not staying high
the best thing to do is add coral base rock
or dolomite gravel
maybe a half pound per gallon
