what is a good beginner's saltwater fish that can withstand inevitable marine water parameter mistakes.

almost all we stock are easy marine fish

clownfish are really easy (we only carry captive-raised)

other easy first fish are

dottybacks
royal grammas
most wrasses
most gobys
groupers (but they get BIG)
Lions (but they are poisonous)
algae blennys
yellow tangs
hogs
hawks
....many others...
my 2 personal favorites are
chalk bass
&
twin-spot hogs

damselfish
triggers

Also, be sure to think long term, even with the first fish. Marine fish can be trickier than freshwater when it comes to choosing tank mates. Best to look through some books and websites and think about what you might want in the near future so you don't limit yourself. Ultimate size is, of course, important too.

If I were choosing a "community" marine fish for the beginner I'd go with tank-raised fish above all else. There is a fairly good selection these days. For example, the ocellaris clowns (a.k.a "nemo") are probably the best bet as they stay small and are pretty tough but I would never, never recommend a wild percula to a beginner. Dottybacks are good, colorful, tank-raised fish as well, but be sure you get the one you like, as they are territorial with fish that look similar.

Read-up on anything you choose before buying! Good luck.
