Can anyone ID this Compressiceps?It was sold to me as a dwarf Sumbu but I really have my doubts. I think its more than likely a gold head myself.Also If you could sex it it would be a big help

I'd agree that Sumbu Dwarf is unlikely - they are one of the least saturated comps.
As for the right I.D. - every new list we get has some new compressiceps variety - too many to keep up on. Goldhead's a good guess.

For sexing, try and get a photograph of the fish in perfect profile, and list the size of the fish. Males should be significantly higher bodied as they mature, females shorter bodied, rounder in the belly. Eventually pectoral fin length helps too. People talk about the angle of the mouth too, but I have trouble using that feature.

I hope we did nt call it a dwarf Sumbu
quite sure its a orange comp

nice fish whatever it is

Sumbu should be sort of black and white zebra stripes i think

if i remember
is sort of a bluish body and a shiny gold face

pretty sure that's an orange comp
but it's still young

No, I didnt get it from you guys or Id know what it is.Got it from one of my locals here in Ct.Do both sexes excavate caves or is it more likely a male? this lil _ moved about 2 cups of sand out from under a big rock.its about 2 1/4 in long if that helps.can I keep different types of Comps in the same tank or is that asking for mutt fish?

don't know about the digging

never heard of them cross breeding
most people trying to breed them have only a pair or trio in 1 tank (no other tank mates)
...doesn't mean they couldn't
