Hi Ned,
Picked up one of the big shrimp from you on Saturday the 8th. He promptly scampered down to a little nook on the bottom and has not moved since. (He wiggles his antennae a bit and shifts his position slightly- He is alive for sure)I have not seen him eat a thing. Even with light off he does not appear to venture out. It's a fairly new tank, not lots of stuff floating. Do they filter feed, or is he just not hungry yet? still nervous?Any thoughts?
I assume you mean Atya

I suggest taking green flake food
(Tetra conditioning, Omega veggie or super veggie, or Uncle Ned's bulk spirulina)
grind it between your fingers
let it fall in front of him
important:
do not use copper medicine
or foods containing copper sulphate
in aquariums that have shrimps
freshwater shrimps should get one pinch (about a quarter teaspoon) of Instant Ocean salt in their tank
Atya and Atyopsis shrimps enjoy sitting in front of the outflow of a power filter or power head
