Unfortunately I've done something wrong and the tanganyikan spiny eel has a few white spots that are probably ich. It eats alot and swims around when it thinks I'm going to feed it, but it looks like it has ich. It doesn't seem stressed otherwise. I treated it with Paragon 2 a week ago, and left for July 4 weekend to come back to it looking slightly worse. So I am treating it again. If it didn't work before, maybe it won't work again. What should I do?

Because I have been feeding it frozen brine, the water got unexpectedly dirty (because of all the loose pieces of food) which probably got it sick in the first place. Right now the water is clean and the pH is about 8. I put in cichlid salts, so should I check the salinity and make sure it's high enough to help treat the ich?

ich on tanganyika spiny eel (or any other fish)

if you are sure it is ich (looks like tiny sugar crystals)

change half the water ... use dechlorinator

remove carbon from filter

remove live plants from tank (because salt kills plants)

add 2 TEAspoons (not tablespoons) of salt (sodium chloride) per gallon of water

(add salt ONLY once unless you change water)

raise temp to 81 degrees F.

add 1 drop (or less) of QuickCure per gallon of water
twice a day (works best with the lights out)

Do this as soon as you notice ich,
and you can usually save most fish

The eel looks healthy, its color is good, it is active, I showed it to a friend who thinks it is perfectly fine. But I do see some tiny sugar crystal like spots on it. I don't know if it still eats and acts healthy when it has already had ich to the point that it shows up on its body. Is it too risky to treat it if it turns out to be healthy? Some people say you have to watch out which medicine you use on scaleless fish, I'm sure you know what you're talking about but I still am a little nervous. Thanks for the help.

At least use the salt (table salt, sodium chloride)
2 teaspoons per gallon

that much salt will do no harm
in particular on a Tanganyikan
