Hi Ned,
Somebody on the other forum was just asking where to find African Tetras/barbs.

I know I just saw some barbs in the new arrivals section, along with some yellow congo tetras - any other african schooling fishes in stock ?

Thanks !

Rich

the yellow tail Congos are nice ( at $11 each, but a little small)
the Bariloides barbs are amazing (they stay kind of small) $10 each
regular Interuptus Congo Tetras (good size) $13 each
I maybe have 1 Spilopterus tetra
(also ordered Procatopus, but they didn't come in)
...any of the above go well with West African cichlids like Kribs

If they are thinking of Malawi schooling non-cichlids
there really aren't any...
South American Silver dollar tetras go pretty well with Malawi cichlids...
in the lake they have what I think they call clupeids
(essentially minnows) but they don't swim with the Mbuna
and aren't exported anyway...
they also have some large barb species
which don't have much color
and are also not exported

Tanganyika has a fantastic killi that gets large
Lampricthys Tanganicannus (Frontosa Chow)
...but it is rare for many reasons
(wild adults are extremely expensive because they are not hardy during capture and shipping...
tank raised babys are rare and expensive
because they only lay a few eggs a day)
