Hi I wet just reading in THF recently that if you brush an aquarium safe antiseptic
on you plants & driftwood it would help prevent & destroy algae. First im
Curious as to what a brushable underwater aquarium safe antiseptic would
Be? & second I wonder if it would work on black beard alge? I'm willing to
Try as soon as I find out what to use. Thanks for any suggestions or other h
Help.

hmmm...
I think Chlorox bleach would work best
..but it's not "safe"
you need to TOTALLY get rid of ALL the bleach before puting the stuff back in the aquarium

to do that
I would massively rinse the bleach off with water,
then use a dechlorinator (any brand, aqutan, novaqua, etc.)
then REPEAT, REPEAT
until you can smell NO bleach

never heard of a "safe" chemical

I just thought...
I haven't tried it yet on black beard algae
...but for string algae in ponds
we do carry
InterPet Pond Balance
THE PINK CRYSTALS

$19 per pound

TOTALLY SAFE
for plants
fish
snails
frogs
turtles
...everything

NOT like bleach products

Ok i found the article . Its in Mays Tropical fish Hobbist. It by Takashi Amano. It says a natural aquatic plant safe antiseptic derrived from plant phytoncides can help rid plants of algae & keep the leaves stong. But no where in the article does it give any more references to what it may be .i.e. a brand name or such.Antiseptics are like bactein or neosporn or something of that sort I think.

Oh ya, Do you have the crystals in a smaller amount than a pound ?I dont think Id need quite that much. Its my 46 planted bow front with the biggest problem. i tried that Marc Weiss algae Magic on it once & that was pretty much a waste of i think it was like 36 bucks.

when I read that, the way they phrased it made me think that its something that isn't available in the US (or its something that Takashi
Amano's company sells) and that's why they didn't want to name-drop... but that's just my guess....
