I have been keeping Zebra Puffers - Carinotetraodon salivator.
Beautiful charismatic fish that get along well with smaller tank mates like barbs and tetras. However, they hate each other, and will rip each other to shreds if given the chance. I know the web lit suggests that the larger members of the genus carinotetraodon (like red-eyes) may be kept in pairs - but from my experience this would only work very temporarily and not without significant damage being caused to one or both fish. I have my Zebras in a divided 33gallon long tank - well planted, one puffer per division. If you want to try and breed these fish I would set up a similar system, where you can condition the fish and introduce the pair to each other only when they are both primed - and be able to quickly separate them in case things go badly.

All that said, we will look for some red-eyes for you - might be a while though. I have one extra male salivator zebra puffer though. They are very very pretty, but not cheap - $90.00 . They are not in the store but at my house - so post if you are interested rather than coming in.
