We have a 10 gallon tanks and a 16 gallon tank. The 1o gallon is an established tank with 2 sword tails, Cory, Platy and currently holds our new Bulldog Pleco.

The 16 gallon is new and being cycled we have 6 cardinal tetras, 3 guppies and one platy.

We bought the bulldog to go in the 16 gallon tank and I'd like to get one for the 10 gallon tank if thats possible. I've found these two that I really like both say they eat algae and max out at 4". Will the Bull dog or either of these two be comfortable in a 10 gallon tank or do they need a lot more room?

Candy Stripe Pleco (L-137)

Starry Night Pleco (L-183)

Thanks,
Marcy

I dont know about those two.
I just have 2 albino bristlenoses for my 5 tanks. When one tank has to much algae for my liking. I just toss the pleco right in (sometimes i catch them with my hands). No need to acclimate, they are very hardy.

They also stay small and eat algae all their lives.

L-137 ?

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... cies_id=43

if this is the fish you want
In my experience a 10 gallon is too small for a permanent home

you might mean L-127

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=982

which I think stays smaller

-------------------------------------------------

L-183

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=221

this should be okay in a 10 gallon

Yes, that was an error I was looking at Plecos under 4".

I'm not having luck finding bulldog pleco feeding information, do they eat algae? Also I've seen maximum sizes from 3 1/2" to 6" at different sites for the L225

Does the Bristlenose eat Algae?

Thanks,
Marcy

The bristlenose are the best algae eaters out there. Unlike your common pleco's they eat algae all of their lives, usually common plecos get tired of algae at an older age and become more carnivorous and they _ the slime coats off your fish.

Thanks everyone. We will be coming in to look at the Bristlenose's hopefully later today.

Our new tank is growing brown algae and we want to get it under control.
