This time of year it's a good idea to cover your pond with netting
(we have many sizes here at Uncle Ned's)
The netting helps keep some of the leaves out.
Very large ammounts of leaves can decompise in the pond
and sometimes wreck the water quality over the winter.

Another good idea is to put in a de-Icer, usually by Thanksgiving.
the de-Icer turns itself on and melts ice helping to leave a hole open. We have for $60 - $66 depending on wattage, there also available an optional wire gaurd that keeps the hot metal away from the liner. De-Icers can be expensive to run, they are 1000
to 1500 watts!

Feed your fish as much as they want to eat until the temperature
is below 55 degrees F. It's best to feed wheat-germ based foods
or other spring-fall formulas this time of year. Uncle Ned's sells several brands.
