Would dwarf corydoras be ok with Betta

Who plays nicely with whom? Will these breeds share a tank without eating each other? "Dis is da place"

Would dwarf corydoras be ok with Betta

Postby BaroqueHolly » Sun Jan 21, 2007 8:07 pm

Hi -
Before kids had 30 and 50 gal tanks... now I have a 2 gal and don't want to expand (yet!).

We had a dwarf african frog in the tank, with heater and airstone, for about 4 years. He recently 'passed on', so we took pity on the Betta in a bowl and moved him into heated quarters, where he is extremely happy. No filter - use pothos plant to pull excess nitrogen out.

Was wondering if we could add a pair of dwarf/pygmy corydoras?

Thought since they were bottom dwellers the Betta wouldn't bother them. Open to other suggestions - thanks!

sure
You can put corys with a betta

what you can't put with a betta is
another betta

or anything that looks or acts like another male betta

Ok, that is what I thought - then saw the posting about the demise of the algae-eater and had second thoughts...

Any idea when you might have some dwarf/pygmy sized ones in?

Thanks!

Update: No dwarf corys when my son and I came in last month. Went home with a pair of Otocincus instead, and all are doing well!
