I have a pair (male + female) of pearl gouramis. The male has been chasing the female 24/7 ever since they were introduced to my 45g moderately planted tank. She is still eating fine, but she hides all day, and I think the male chases her into the walls of the tank sometimes.

I am wondering what I could do to help alleviate the fighting. I am considering purchasing another pearl gourami to help spread the hate. Is this a good idea, and if so, would a second male or female be better?

I am also planning on adding lights/CO2 and buying lots more plants. Will more hiding places fix the problem?

Thanks!
-Josh

that is somewhat unusual

you can do several things

add more hiding places (the plants are a great idea)
move one of the 2 fish
cheeck the temperature (is the water above 80 degrees F.?)
add more fish (in particular more pearl gouramis)
...unfortunately I have no pearl gouramis to sell you right now
...(hopefully next week)
