Mean Rainbow Shark

Who plays nicely with whom? Will these breeds share a tank without eating each other? "Dis is da place"

Mean Rainbow Shark

Postby elifar » Fri Oct 27, 2006 11:18 pm

I purchased two rosy barbs from Uncle Ned's two weeks ago as companions for my 3" to 4" rainbow shark. The rainbow shark is in a 10 gal tank and his previous tankmate (a cory) had to be removed because the shark was too aggressive. The barbs were recommended to me and I just introduced them into the 10g tank. The shark is already terrorizing them and doesn't seem to be letting up. Is there any chance that these three will eventually get along? If not, what are my options?

Thanks,
Beth

I would add more rosy barbs
(they like to be in a big group anyway)

More fish in 10 gal?

Postby elifar » Sat Oct 28, 2006 1:02 am

Can I fit more fish in a 10 gallon tank?

The rainbow shark is already 4" and the two barbs are almost 2" each. Unfortunately I don't have the space for a bigger tank yet, and I worry that adding more rosy barbs would overcrowd the tank. I also worry that stressing the shark out by taking away even more of his territory with more fish would only increase his agressiveness.

Thanks!

3 fish is nothing
you could do 9 fish that size in a 10

if the shark is being a pest
just bring him in
