we picked this little guy up at a store and he was labeled as a bulldog pleco. He hasn't grown much at all he is atleast a year maybe closer to two that we have had him and he is about 2" long. anyone have any ideas if that is what he is? We would like a couple more if they truly stay this size. 6 months after this guy we bought a bushynose from Ned and he as doubled maybe tripled in size but Bully hasn't grown noticably.

Thanks,
Marcy

can't see the pic

but usually a bulldog pleco
has a sort of Otocinclus cat mouth

gets bigger than a regular oto

it can damage delicate plants
but is probably ok with anubias plants

that looks more like a Chaetostoma or widemouth pleco
L146 or L146a (not too bad on some plants, lots of websites call it bulldog, some dealers call it 'Albina', sometimes called rubber Lip)
http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/myfis ... omasi.html

I mix up the common name " pitbull pleco "
which is LDA25
with " bulldog pleco "

either are not too bad with plants

( planetcatfish.com site is down right now, driving me nuts, I use it all the time )

Thanks Ned. It wsa called bulldog but it wasn't a real fish store where I would trust identification. He is just so small and hasn't grown, I'd like another one or two.

lol - I am a computer tech and its up on my website and the img link worked in preview then disappeared.

eeek - I keep hitting reply before I'm done...
I've found widemouths/rubberlips/bulldogs to grow slower than bristlenose in my tanks, and to stay a wee bit smaller than bristle's as well (but I think the bristlenoses eat more algae, at least for me)
