Hey ned, How would the arowana or the hystrix do with the fish that I have? I have a 5 inch Goliath African Tiger Fish and a 4.5-5 inch Nile perch? If you think they'd be okay I'll probably pick 1 or both up.

we still have the 2 stingrays

should be okay together for a while
but both your other 2 fish will massively outgrow the rays

the arawana has been sold

IME success with rays has more to do with the setup than the tankmates - large low wide tanks (at least 4' x 2' ), soft sand, and most importantly - zero ammonia, zero nitrite and very low nitrate (lots and lots of water changes to keep nitrate at 10ppm or below).

Although with the fish you currently have, I'm assuming you already have something in the 300 - 500g size range, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Make sure the sand is a round grain variety - not sharp edged quartz like playsand etc. Also make sure there is no abrasive rockwork or decor in the tank - no lava rock, tuffa, etc.

And I keep all magnetically driven powerheads out of elasmobranch aquariums, as I feel the electric and magnetic fields given off interfere with the ampullae of lorenzini. I prefer large wet/dry filters and canisters for filtration and water flow.
