Are the apistogramma cichlids sensitive to hard water ? My PH is around 7.6 and Kh and Gh are around 8 , I have been reading that the cichlids dont do great in hard water.. I just dont want to introduce them to an environment that might end up killing them.

well the ideal for apistogramma cacatoides is pH 7, low-medium hardness
(ideal for some other Apistos is pH 6, low hardness)

the ideal for Tanganyikan dwarf cichlids is pH 8, high hardness

all that being said

the answer to your question is
no
the hard alkaline water will NOT kill apistogramma

ideally for breeding purposes it should be softer and more acidic
but
for general maintenance pH 7.6 is not a problem

if you wanted to lower the pH and hardness I suggest
diluting it with Reverse Osmosis water
which we sell for 50 cents per gallon
