When you guys treat plecos for ich what do you recomend?

In my experience I would say salt
(2.2 teaspoons of salt
per
1 gallon of water
which is about
5 pounds per 150 gallons...
Maximum dose)

Copper sulphate
(we use aquarisol, use by directions on label)
also seems to be safe

Malachite Green and formaldehyde (Quick Cure)
might
be damaging to either their skin or internal flora.

I'll add here that Oodium is much more common on freshly imported plecos than is Ich. When attacking pleco's, Oodium does not take on the classic dusty appearance of Velvet disease and instead forms larger cysts reminiscent of Ich infestations. You can tell Oodium apart from Ich on catfish by it's often larger cyst size and its yellowish or brownish color. The deeper color can be frustrating as it makes the parasite more difficult to see when in low concentrations.

Luckily, Ich and Oodium may be treated in much the same way, though in a few instances I was unable to get rid of the disease without multiple treatments of AquariSol Copper.
